A More Personal Note This Weekend

This Saturday newsletter is going to be different.

Normally my content revolves around teaching and coaching contractors. Numbers, margins, cash flow. But today I want to connect with you on a more personal level.

We all have a story to tell. This is mine.

I Spent 30 Years in Banking

I'm Patrick Shurney, The Millionaire Contractor Coach™. I spent 30 years as a banker, reviewing 10,000+ financials and approving over $2 billion in loans. I know what banks look for. I know what makes a contractor bankable. As a former banker, I understand that cash flow and net profit are not the same. Most contractors don't. That's where I come in.

But my story isn't just about banking.

I Got Fired at 53

In 2019, I was fired. Most people would call that a career death sentence. I called it my beginning.

Sharing this used to be very hard. I was angry. I thought if I told people I was fired, they would misjudge me. But I decided I wanted a boss who was 100% aligned with my goals. Me. Besides, people don't want to hear a big sob story. They just want to know if you can do the job. So I turned something bad into something good.

I launched my own business in January 2020. By 2021, I was earning more in five months than my last corporate year.

Everything Fell Apart

My wife Donna of 25 years was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. She passed 90 days later. I was broken. My business nearly collapsed. Grief brain is real, and it almost took everything I'd built.

But God brings beauty from ashes.

I Turned Pain into Purpose

I met Judy. We fell in love. I rebuilt. Not just my business, but my capacity to hope.

Today, I Coach the Millionaire Contractor

That's the $5M to $50M contractor who doubled revenue but can't figure out why their personal income stayed flat. The one working 60+ hours a week, chasing payments, signing personal guarantees. Carrying all the risk while everyone else gets paid first.
